Well It’s been a while !

Well Its been a while
It has been a considerable amount of time since i uploaded a new blog post it has been the busiest and most hectic few months of my life.

On the 21st of January i started my advanced apprenticeship with Shape Creative based in St martins square Leicester. My apprenticeship is officially in Social & Digital marketing. However i have gained so many new skills and expanded my view on what marketing is. Previous to working at shape i was solely focused on social media marketing, strategies, platforms and integrating the latest tech into all of them.

A New Train of thought
Since i started my apprenticeship i have completely changed my view on marketing and my mind set has changed for the better. i now have a strong understanding of not only Social media marketing but i have vastly improved my knowledge of my industry over the last 3 months i have put in a Herculean effort to learn the ropes of how a creative studio works. i have began to learn to code HTML and css and will shortly be moving on to app development for iOS and Android. I was quite surprised how fast my HTML and CSS skills developed i went from knowing very little to creating HTML content that went on to clients live sites in the space of a few days. Aside from these technical aspects i have learn’t to create high quality reports for customers as well as SDA reports and i have just recently the journey in to In-depth product descriptions and copy-writing i greatly under estimated how hard product description writing would be, I’m glad to say i have improved greatly at writing them now.

By far the biggest change in my tech life is the change i made from PC to Mac
i never thought id prefer the Mac platform and I’m still not a 100% sold as I’m a bit of a sucker for windows 8 in all fairness but that’s a post for another time.

To conclude this post.
I have learn’t so much so fast it’s hard for me to express via this blog post
i am committed to getting my skills to an intermediate level by the end of the year and i hope to get an advanced skill set within a few year.

Social Media Trends 2013

Social media trends in 2013

  1. The Demand for Online Marketing Will Continue to Increase
Internet marketing has become the best and most cost effective way to create brand awareness, increase product demand, and generate leads for a company. As companies continue to realize the potential of the online marketing resource, the demand for Internet marketing services and service companies should continue to increase.
  2. The Content King is Once Again Crowned
Search engine marketing experts all agree that providing quality content across all marketing media is the foundation of a successful marketing campaign. 2013 should see a rise in content creation software, as well as content creation service companies.
  3. Cross-Platform Marketing Will Come Into Its Own
Currently, there are several venues for marketing effort focus and distribution. Venues include SEO, SEM, social media marketing, mobile marketing, and other lead generation efforts. In 2013, the ability to cross-integrate a marketing strategy across all online marketing venues should become actualized. This will give companies the ability to deliver a single minded message across multiple platforms.
  4. The Rise of Big Data
The ability to consolidate and access Big Data for use in marketing campaigns has been an emerging marketing want throughout 2012. As sets of data housed on servers have become larger and more intensive, they have become very difficult to process using single company-based information processing software or database administration tools. A better solution is needed to keep up with the growth. The major software companies have been scrambling to provide the first-to-market software solution that will make Big Data accessible to the corporate marketing world. 2013 should see the delivery of those solutions.
  5. The Further Improvement of Analytics
As marketing trends shift and new marketing strategies are invented, ROI still remains the key metric for analysis. If a marketing strategy yields no return on investment, then it will not remain a part of a company’s marketing budget. In 2013, new ways of analyzing, measuring, and qualifying current and future marketing strategies will allow marketers and companies to more quickly and easily gage ROI and the effectiveness of specific marketing strategies.
  6. Internet Marketers Will Move Away From PPC
The trend for 2013 seems to be towards other, more cost-effective online paid search marketing avenues. PPC has been a mainstay for several years, but if 2012 is any indication of things to come, then (at least for corporate paid internet marketing strategies) PPC could be on the decline.
  7. Our World Has Gone Mobile
2012 saw more and more technology move towards mobile devices and serving consumer demand for mobile applications. It is predicted that by 2014 the majority of people accessing the internet will do so from mobile devices. In 2013, mobile is certain to continue its growth and “reinvention of the wheel”, as some search marketing experts have put it. Companies are already beginning to recognize the need to serve mobile demand. 2013 will see more and more companies shifting their direction to feed the mobile frenzy.
  8. The Expansion of Local Search
In 2007, Google made a calculated shift towards providing searchers with locally relevant search results. The majority of searches at the time were found to actually be seeking local results, so Google decided to service the need. This shift reinvented the way people search and the way marketers approach their marketing strategies. In 2012, Google made the switch from Google Places to Google+ Local. 2013 will see the expansion and further implementation of search engine updates to better serve the demand for local results. In 2013, companies will also expand their local search marketing efforts in an attempt to capture as much local market share for their products and services as possible.

Augmented Reality In 2013

Augmented Reality

I personally think that augmented reality (AR) will be the most useful piece of technology that emerges in 2013. It is a revolutionary idea which i think will change the world. A big statement but when you consider the possibilities of what AR can do it really does seem like the game is being taken to the next level. In late 2012 we saw Nokia pushing AR through its new Lumia range of Smartphone’s in particularly the Nokia City Lens app on the Nokia Lumia 920. In just a short space of time we then heard companies such as Google saying they are making goggle glasses a real-time AR interface in which both the digital world and the real world are fused together. It is rumored that we could see Google glasses at the end of 2013. In addition to this we have seen many new apps emerge such as Aurasma Layar which have all been endorsed by some pretty large companies be it for promoting movies or making magazines come to life. It is fair to say that AR in 2013 will go from strength to strength. The great thing about AR is the fact its universal it has use’s in all industries from the interactive IKEA catalog to finding places using Nokia Lens to reinventing how Teachers teach lessons AR is a truly universal piece of tech further more anyone any age can use it because most AR apps and software packages are pretty simple and easy to use which is a real +1.  In 2013 we will see AR fuse with the Real world it is fair to say the potential to AR can be incorporate in to just about everything. Another Key indicator into why i think AR will Take Off in 2013 is because not Only Have Nokia and Google Shown Great Interest In AR but also tech giants Microsoft and Apple. Another thing to take in to consideration is the rise of the Smartphone and tablet markets. Smartphone’s and Tablets have become ever more popular and its seems that AR has emerge in the right place at the right time as there has never been a bigger Smartphone user base it is therefore quite easy to say that the chances of AR thriving are pretty high. There is great hope that in 2013 the use of AR will help increase book sales.

Apple Unveils the IPad Mini

Apple Ipad mini

Apple just announced their 7.9-inch iPad mini and is now officially ready to enter the fight in the ultra portable tablet market.

The Ipad Mini comes in both black and white. The 7.9 inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio gives the iPad mini a size advantage over its 7-inch competitors. The area measures 29.6 square inches to 21.9 on a 16:9 7-inch tablet. It has the same resolution as the original iPad & iPad 2, at 1,024 x 768.

The iPad mini has an A5 chip which is the equivalent of the current iPod touch. It has a front-facing FaceTime 720p camera, with 5-megapixel camera in back. It also includes Apple’s new Lightning connector, which first debuted on the iPhone 5. The Ipad Mini weighs in at 10.9 ounces, the iPad mini is less than half the weight of the full-size iPad. And is  just 0.28 of an inch thick.

The iPad mini pricing for the U.S. is

16 GB Wi-Fi only – $329

16 GB 4G LTE – $459

32GB Wi-Fi Only – $429

32GB 4G LTE – $559

64GB Wi-fi only -$529

64GB 4G LTE – $659

Pre-orders begin Oct. 26. Wi-Fi devices ship Nov. 2, and the cellular models will come about two weeks later. Also The popular smart cover is getting shrunk as well for the new iPad, with multiple colors offered, including blue, green, pink and black.

Apple – Ipad 4

Apple Ipad 4

Everyone expected today’s Apple event to be all about the iPad mini, but as it turned out Apple unveiled the fourth generation of its iPad iOS-running tablet which has surprised everyone.

The iPad 4 features a new A6X chip LTE for mobile versions and faster Wi-Fi This is the same chip that is in the new iPhone 5 and is supposed to be twice as fast as the iPad 3.

The iPad 4 has the same 10 hour battery as the now-obsolete iPad 3 the iPad 4 will sell for the same price as the ipad 3. Here are the U.S. pricing’s

16GB Wi-Fi – $499

16GB LTE- $629

32GB Wi-Fi – $599

32GB LTE – $729

64GB Wi-Fi – $699

64GB LTE – $829

Undoubtedly, this is a great device for new iPad owners (or iPad 2 owners) — but for iPad 3 owners, the feeling is a bit bittersweet. The iPad 2 will also stick around – it will retail, starting at $399 now. Shipping of the Apple iPad 4 Wi-Fi units starts on November 2, with the LTE-packing ones coming two weeks later.

As promised

As promised a blog post by the weekend ha-ha. Sorry for not posting much recently it has been beyond hectic over the past few weeks. For those who don’t know over the past few months I got enrolled on a apprenticeship course with digital marketing mentor I’m glad to say i have passed the course and achieved a Btec in Social media marketing which is something i am quite proud of as it’s a very new course and not many people have them.

Currently I’m looking for a job which is proving pretty difficult i have sent my CV out more times than i can remember. Some companies get back to you while most don’t and if you have ever been unemployed or looking for work there’s nothing worse than when a company doesn’t get back to you insert sad-face haha. Maybe it shouldn’t be a big deal and could just be my naive view of the world as this is the first time I’ve been searching and applying for jobs. Hopefully something will come up soon i have 2 new leads i need to follow up so fingers crossed.

Over the past month plenty of things have happened the iPhone 5 has been released Nokia have stepped up their game and are starting to comeback at the competition Apple vs Samsung has turned in to an interesting monster Apple won but now Samsung are suing Apple plus apparently Samsung sent the 1billon dollars in truck loads of Cents. Also with Apple’s IOS6 update removing Google maps and replacing it with Apple maps has been more than a fail. The current big news is Windows 8 and the iPad mini so far i can tell you that the iPad mini is expected to be announced/released on the 23rd of October 2012 which i will blog about in a later post.

Many thanks from @jamese986

Update

Hopefully will have 2 new blog posts uploaded by the weekend

Nokia – Lumia 820

The Lumia 820 features a 4.3-inch display, along with 1.5GHz dual-core S4 processor and a microSD slot. Other features include a 5-megapixel camera, NFC capabilities, 8GB of storage, Nokia Music access and City Lens. But it doesn’t include PureView technology featured in the Lumia 900, Nokia’s new flagship device.

Nokia – The return of the king

The Nokia Lumia 920 looks much like the Lumia 900, but comes with a bigger 4.5″ 720p PureMotionHD+ display, with curved glass on top of it. It is powered by the Snapdragon S4 chipset with a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor and Adreno 225 GPU.

Is this going to be the phone which fights back against android and the iPhone
