Well Its been a while
It has been a considerable amount of time since i uploaded a new blog post it has been the busiest and most hectic few months of my life.
On the 21st of January i started my advanced apprenticeship with Shape Creative based in St martins square Leicester. My apprenticeship is officially in Social & Digital marketing. However i have gained so many new skills and expanded my view on what marketing is. Previous to working at shape i was solely focused on social media marketing, strategies, platforms and integrating the latest tech into all of them.
A New Train of thought
Since i started my apprenticeship i have completely changed my view on marketing and my mind set has changed for the better. i now have a strong understanding of not only Social media marketing but i have vastly improved my knowledge of my industry over the last 3 months i have put in a Herculean effort to learn the ropes of how a creative studio works. i have began to learn to code HTML and css and will shortly be moving on to app development for iOS and Android. I was quite surprised how fast my HTML and CSS skills developed i went from knowing very little to creating HTML content that went on to clients live sites in the space of a few days. Aside from these technical aspects i have learn’t to create high quality reports for customers as well as SDA reports and i have just recently the journey in to In-depth product descriptions and copy-writing i greatly under estimated how hard product description writing would be, I’m glad to say i have improved greatly at writing them now.
By far the biggest change in my tech life is the change i made from PC to Mac
i never thought id prefer the Mac platform and I’m still not a 100% sold as I’m a bit of a sucker for windows 8 in all fairness but that’s a post for another time.
To conclude this post.
I have learn’t so much so fast it’s hard for me to express via this blog post
i am committed to getting my skills to an intermediate level by the end of the year and i hope to get an advanced skill set within a few year.

Social media trends in 2013
- The Demand for Online Marketing Will Continue to Increase
Internet marketing has become the best and most cost effective way to create brand awareness, increase product demand, and generate leads for a company. As companies continue to realize the potential of the online marketing resource, the demand for Internet marketing services and service companies should continue to increase.
- The Content King is Once Again Crowned
Search engine marketing experts all agree that providing quality content across all marketing media is the foundation of a successful marketing campaign. 2013 should see a rise in content creation software, as well as content creation service companies.
- Cross-Platform Marketing Will Come Into Its Own
Currently, there are several venues for marketing effort focus and distribution. Venues include SEO, SEM, social media marketing, mobile marketing, and other lead generation efforts. In 2013, the ability to cross-integrate a marketing strategy across all online marketing venues should become actualized. This will give companies the ability to deliver a single minded message across multiple platforms.
- The Rise of Big Data
The ability to consolidate and access Big Data for use in marketing campaigns has been an emerging marketing want throughout 2012. As sets of data housed on servers have become larger and more intensive, they have become very difficult to process using single company-based information processing software or database administration tools. A better solution is needed to keep up with the growth. The major software companies have been scrambling to provide the first-to-market software solution that will make Big Data accessible to the corporate marketing world. 2013 should see the delivery of those solutions.
- The Further Improvement of Analytics
As marketing trends shift and new marketing strategies are invented, ROI still remains the key metric for analysis. If a marketing strategy yields no return on investment, then it will not remain a part of a company’s marketing budget. In 2013, new ways of analyzing, measuring, and qualifying current and future marketing strategies will allow marketers and companies to more quickly and easily gage ROI and the effectiveness of specific marketing strategies.
- Internet Marketers Will Move Away From PPC
The trend for 2013 seems to be towards other, more cost-effective online paid search marketing avenues. PPC has been a mainstay for several years, but if 2012 is any indication of things to come, then (at least for corporate paid internet marketing strategies) PPC could be on the decline.
- Our World Has Gone Mobile
2012 saw more and more technology move towards mobile devices and serving consumer demand for mobile applications. It is predicted that by 2014 the majority of people accessing the internet will do so from mobile devices. In 2013, mobile is certain to continue its growth and “reinvention of the wheel”, as some search marketing experts have put it. Companies are already beginning to recognize the need to serve mobile demand. 2013 will see more and more companies shifting their direction to feed the mobile frenzy.
- The Expansion of Local Search
In 2007, Google made a calculated shift towards providing searchers with locally relevant search results. The majority of searches at the time were found to actually be seeking local results, so Google decided to service the need. This shift reinvented the way people search and the way marketers approach their marketing strategies. In 2012, Google made the switch from Google Places to Google+ Local. 2013 will see the expansion and further implementation of search engine updates to better serve the demand for local results. In 2013, companies will also expand their local search marketing efforts in an attempt to capture as much local market share for their products and services as possible.

Apple Ipad 4
Everyone expected today’s Apple event to be all about the iPad mini, but as it turned out Apple unveiled the fourth generation of its iPad iOS-running tablet which has surprised everyone.
The iPad 4 features a new A6X chip LTE for mobile versions and faster Wi-Fi This is the same chip that is in the new iPhone 5 and is supposed to be twice as fast as the iPad 3.
The iPad 4 has the same 10 hour battery as the now-obsolete iPad 3 the iPad 4 will sell for the same price as the ipad 3. Here are the U.S. pricing’s
16GB Wi-Fi – $499
16GB LTE- $629
32GB Wi-Fi – $599
32GB LTE – $729
64GB Wi-Fi – $699
64GB LTE – $829
Undoubtedly, this is a great device for new iPad owners (or iPad 2 owners) — but for iPad 3 owners, the feeling is a bit bittersweet. The iPad 2 will also stick around – it will retail, starting at $399 now. Shipping of the Apple iPad 4 Wi-Fi units starts on November 2, with the LTE-packing ones coming two weeks later.

The Expendables 2
Bigger Bolder and more badass than ever
This is the ultimate film for any action movie fan, for me its the equivalent to the avengers assemble but for the 80’s action hero.
For those that aren’t familiar with the expendables it’s basically a start studded cast full of all your favourite action hero’s from all your favourite action movies from the 80’s.
The expendable’s 2 cast is as follows
A quick section on the facts and figures
The expendable’s 2 has claimed the weekend box office title with $28.7 million in ticket sales meaning it has shot the Bourne legacy of the office summit the film is rated 15 and has a runtime of 102 minutes
I personally think this film is epic it has so much action right from the get go. Big guns, Big egos and even Bigger explosions! You really can’t go wrong with this film if you’re an action movie fan. However it is fair to say that many people will throw hate at this film and brand it as being cheesy and childish but we all know chuck Norris deals with haters. As the film progressed i really started to enjoy it. it had plenty of action but it also had some pretty good comedy scenes my favourite being the airport scene where its every 80’s fan boy dream to see all the legends come together and fight and throw classic one liners out. I really loved the part when Bruce Willis saying to Arnie Schwarzenegger “I’ll be back” and Schwarzenegger replies with “yippee ki yay mofo” from die hard. (cue smiles like a Cheshire cat) a few scenes later we have Chuck Norris dishing out some crazy moves and Jason Statham laying in to the bad guys with knives and badass brutal martial arts. at the same time there’s gunfire explosions and banter going on. Shortly after that Barney goes to dual Vilain in a furious fist fight in which only one man will be left standing. It’s a good point to note that all these guys are getting on a bit now but they all can still throw down some serious moves of purist WIN. Van damme threw down some of his classic kickboxing movies and sly gave us some quality rocky esque moves. and like all action hero movies the hero wins
I genuinely feel that this is a must for any action movie fan and is sure to make you smile and laugh i didn’t want this review to be too in-depth or serious because I think that it’s a light heart type film at the end of the day i really hope you go out and see the movie

Let the Games begin
The London 2012 opening ceremony kicked off at 9pm yesterday (Friday 27th July 2012) it started off with a very picturesque farming landscape somewhat reminiscent of the shire from lord of the rings. The scene showed Britain before the industrial revolution had took place. With Danny Boyle at the helm he made sure the themes for the ceremony remained secret until the very last minute. However it was apparent quite quickly after the farming scene that the ceremony would focus heavily on Britain through the ages. After the farming scene low and beheld the mighty Kenneth brannagh came out playing the role of the famous the Victorian engineer sir Isambard Kingdom Brunel. And the farming scene quickly ended and emerging from the picturesque farming landscape came a roaring industrial Inferno Recreating a very detailed picture of Britain as the industrial revolution hit And Britain became the workshop of the world. Giant Smoke towers soared into the sky and a river or molten iron ran through the set. It is estimated more than 2,000 people took part in the industrial scene and they were all dressed in period clothing it is worth saying that many of the dancers/performers volunteered to be in the opening ceremony. Towards the end of the industrial scene there was a short period covering the world wars where the performers paid respect to the fallen. At the same time this was happening 5 glowing rings appeared and came together to form the legendary Olympic rings.

Is Fancy pinterest +1
it is fair to say that the new fancy app has impressed me. especially the latest version it simple effective and i have founded immensely fun to use. the description written by fancy( fancy is for curators of style, its part blog, part magazine and part bookmarking tool. Its a place to discover great stuff to create a collection of things that define your style to create a museum of you.
we built it because we love to show the things we have and to window-shop for things we admire.
the hybrid approach to the app is pinterest based but this hybrid app seems to be much more advanced in terms of the sale’s side of thing it not only enables the user to see the high quality pictures but if its for sale in the corner there is a price tag enabling in a subtle way the user to gain access to thousands of different products brands and designers worldwide this is one of fancy’s strongest points.
another key factor in why i think Fancy is pinterest +1’d is because if there is a picture you only need to click the image twice and you go directly to the website. its super fast and efficient. and with the built in social networking features like linking with Facebook and twitter its easy to control if you want things posted or not i personally have the push notifications active as their is a real sense of community and group interaction on fancy
the equivalent of a Facebook like or google+1 is simple if you like an item/picture you simply click the Fancy button and it then becomes Fancy’d
a sweet simple app with an extremely tasteful layout. and with no official pinterest app as of yet for iPad and a mediocre one for iPhone Fancy has a real chance to compete with pinterest and I’m certain is one to watch
not knocking pinterest as i think is a great platform but at the moment fancy has won me over
many thanks for reading
