Well Its been a while
It has been a considerable amount of time since i uploaded a new blog post it has been the busiest and most hectic few months of my life.
On the 21st of January i started my advanced apprenticeship with Shape Creative based in St martins square Leicester. My apprenticeship is officially in Social & Digital marketing. However i have gained so many new skills and expanded my view on what marketing is. Previous to working at shape i was solely focused on social media marketing, strategies,platforms and integrating the latest tech into all of them.
A New Train of thought
Since i started my apprenticeship i have completely changed my view on marketing and my mind set has changed for the better. i now have a strong understanding of not only Social media marketing but i have vastly improved my knowledge of my industry over the last 3 months i have put in a Herculean effort to learn the ropes of how a creative studio works. i have began to learn to code HTML and css and will shortly be moving on to app development for iOS and Android. I was quite surprised how fast my HTML and CSS skills developed i went from knowing very little to creating HTML content that went on to clients live sites in the space of a few days. Aside from these technical aspects i have learn’t to create high quality reports for customers as well as SDA reports and i have just recently the journey in to In-depth product descriptions and copy-writing i greatly under estimated how hard product description writing would be, I’m glad to say i have improved greatly at writing them now.
By far the biggest change in my tech life is the change i made from PC to Mac
i never thought id prefer the Mac platform and I’m still not a 100% sold as I’m a bit of a sucker for windows 8 in all fairness but that’s a post for another time.

I have learn’t so much so fast it’s hard for me to express via this blog post
i am committed to getting my skills to an intermediate level by the end of the year and i hope to get an advanced skill set within a few year.

- Cross-Platform Marketing Will Come Into Its Own
Currently, there are several venues for marketing effort focus and distribution. Venues include SEO, SEM, social media marketing, mobile marketing, and other lead generation efforts. In 2013, the ability to cross-integrate a marketing strategy across all online marketing venues should become actualized. This will give companies the ability to deliver a single minded message across multiple platforms.
- The Rise of Big Data
The ability to consolidate and access Big Data for use in marketing campaigns has been an emerging marketing want throughout 2012. As sets of data housed on servers have become larger and more intensive, they have become very difficult to process using single company-based information processing software or database administration tools. A better solution is needed to keep up with the growth. The major software companies have been scrambling to provide the first-to-market software solution that will make Big Data accessible to the corporate marketing world. 2013 should see the delivery of those solutions.
- The Further Improvement of Analytics
As marketing trends shift and new marketing strategies are invented, ROI still remains the key metric for analysis. If a marketing strategy yields no return on investment, then it will not remain a part of a company’s marketing budget. In 2013, new ways of analyzing, measuring, and qualifying current and future marketing strategies will allow marketers and companies to more quickly and easily gage ROI and the effectiveness of specific marketing strategies.
- Internet Marketers Will Move Away From PPC
The trend for 2013 seems to be towards other, more cost-effective online paid search marketing avenues. PPC has been a mainstay for several years, but if 2012 is any indication of things to come, then (at least for corporate paid internet marketing strategies) PPC could be on the decline.
- Our World Has Gone Mobile
2012 saw more and more technology move towards mobile devices and serving consumer demand for mobile applications. It is predicted that by 2014 the majority of people accessing the internet will do so from mobile devices. In 2013, mobile is certain to continue its growth and “reinvention of the wheel”, as some search marketing experts have put it. Companies are already beginning to recognize the need to serve mobile demand. 2013 will see more and more companies shifting their direction to feed the mobile frenzy.
- The Expansion of Local Search
In 2007, Google made a calculated shift towards providing searchers with locally relevant search results. The majority of searches at the time were found to actually be seeking local results, so Google decided to service the need. This shift reinvented the way people search and the way marketers approach their marketing strategies. In 2012, Google made the switch from Google Places to Google+ Local. 2013 will see the expansion and further implementation of search engine updates to better serve the demand for local results. In 2013, companies will also expand their local search marketing efforts in an attempt to capture as much local market share for their products and services as possible.

Apple Ipad mini
Apple just announced their 7.9-inch iPad mini and is now officially ready to enter the fight in the ultra portable tablet market.
The Ipad Mini comes in both black and white. The 7.9 inch screen with 4:3 aspect ratio gives the iPad mini a size advantage over its 7-inch competitors. The area measures 29.6 square inches to 21.9 on a 16:9 7-inch tablet. It has the same resolution as the original iPad & iPad 2, at 1,024 x 768.
The iPad mini has an A5 chip which is the equivalent of the current iPod touch. It has a front-facing FaceTime 720p camera, with 5-megapixel camera in back. It also includes Apple’s new Lightning connector, which first debuted on the iPhone 5. The Ipad Mini weighs in at 10.9 ounces, the iPad mini is less than half the weight of the full-size iPad. And is just 0.28 of an inch thick.

It has just been released that apple will be introducing the iPad mini in October 2012 it will have ether a 7 or 8 inch screen however it will not be the retina display as featured on the latest iPad. The price is expected to be about £160 and will apparently be lunch to go alongside the much anticipated iPhone5. Apple will face Some pretty tough competitions with the likes of the nexus7 and Microsoft surface being released. However I’m certain they will come out on top.

The prices for the newly announced microsoft surface tablets have been realeased and it will cost $599 (£383) for the entry level version and the high end package will be $999 (£640). apparently it the cheaper/earlier versions of the device will be wifi only rather like the ipad it will be a 3 tier system
also the app store is now in 155 countries worldwide
